Jennifer Opdycke, PA-C
Jenny is the founder and owner of SWMI Health Matters, where she provides a personalized, root-cause approach to healthcare. With over 20 years of medical experience across Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Critical Care, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, and Surgery, Jenny combines traditional medical training with integrative, whole-person care. She specializes in functional medicine, hormone optimization, metabolic health, and nutrition, and has completed advanced training in Functional Medicine, Bio-identical Hormone Therapy, Behavioral Health, Trauma Recovery, Mindfulness, and Holistic Wellness. Jenny is passionate about helping patients restore balance, improve long-term wellness, and feel empowered in their health journey.
Ashley Espinosa, FNP-C
Ashley is a Family Nurse Practitioner with nearly 20 years of clinical experience in urgent care and geriatric medicine. She is passionate about helping patients improve their health through movement, nutrition, metabolic health, and lifestyle-centered care, with a strong focus on functional medicine, hormone health, and prevention. Ashley approaches healthcare through a whole-person lens, recognizing the connection between physical, emotional, environmental, and behavioral health. Her diverse background—including work in construction, farming, midwifery, and stone masonry—shaped her grounded, practical approach to wellness and her belief in the power of sustainable daily habits. She also serves on the YWCA governance board and is a certified personal trainer through NASM.

Reace Hammel, RN, BSN
Reace has been part of the SWMI Health Matters family longer than anyone else on the team and is known for her warm, calming presence. She has experience in trauma care, oncology, interventional and neurointerventional radiology. Through her reflexology sessions, Reace helps patients relax, restore balance, and feel genuinely cared for. Her compassionate nature and supportive approach make her an important part of both our patient experience and our practice.
Kate Sproul, RN
Kate is a Health and Wellness Coach who works with patients to support nutrition, meal planning, lifestyle changes, and long-term wellness goals. She is passionate about the concept of food as medicine and believes that every person benefits from an individualized approach to health. Kate helps patients build sustainable habits through personalized nutrition and lifestyle strategies tailored to each person’s unique needs and routines.
Office Staff
Brin Thelen, MA
Brin is passionate about health, fitness, and holistic wellness. She is currently completing her undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University with plans to attend PA school and pursue a career that blends traditional medicine with a holistic approach to care. At SWMI Health Matters, Brin supports the practice through scheduling, organization, marketing, and social media, helping keep the office running smoothly with her strong work ethic and positive energy.
Hans Rogers, Receptionist
Hans is often the first friendly face patients see when they walk into SWMI Health Matters. With a background in therapy, he brings empathy, warmth, and understanding to his role supporting scheduling, organization, and the daily flow of the practice. Hans is also part of the official therapy dog care team, helping care for the office French Bulldogs, Finn and Batman.
